Dylan and I used to talk a bit more during the period when he was thinking about leaving his job. After he went back to Singapore for work, our conversations slowly became less frequent. Once in a while he still asked if I wanted to travel with him, but I didn’t reply. I didn’t know what to say, and maybe I had already moved into a different space in my life. A few weeks ago, I saw that he went to New Zealand with someone new. I didn’t feel anything dramatic, just a quiet sense that things had settled into their own places. Some people walk with you only for a short part of the road, and it doesn’t have to become anything more than that. That short part is already enough.
